welp, lets just say a very strongly built and running 406 TPI with SLP runners and a larger plenum as an intake setup, with the stock throttle body and an SLP air foil bolted up to it with the stock intake tube with a k&n filter on the end as an intake setup.
Would it be recommended for a switch to a 58mm throttle body with this type of engine?
As it is right now its making around 400 hp and 515 tq to the wheels with only headers and the stock exhaust as the exhaust setup. I would think that a 58mm tb and a Flowmaster cat-back and maybe a 3" cutout would be awesome compliments, but I wanted some input.
Are there any recommendations as far as TB's go?
Which is the better TB? BBK or Holley?
Also, is the computer going to have to be flashed?

I don't know a lot about TPI setups, but I would think that more than 350ci you'd need the 58mm TB and some LT headers/good cat-back.
Sounds like an awesome set-up, BTW.

Sounds like a crazy set up!! §
I think you would gain alot by a cat back and a tb. This is going to let that big ass thing breath alot better. 58mm then port the intake to match it.

I've always read that with TPI, that more than a 355 is a waste in CI...but sounds like he's found a way around this.

you should be okay with the stock t/b, id start off on the exhaust and open that thing up before moving up on the t/b. after you finish the rest of the exhaust, then if you have the extra money, it wouldnt hurt to get a larger t/b, but like Cgroh said, you need to port the intake manifold to match the t/b. also i believe both the BBk and Holley 58mm t/bs can be ordered with a built-in airfoil.

thanks for all the input guys.
yeah I'm thinking work on the exhaust before anything else, Its already got SLP stainless shorty headers that were matched to the SLP head/cam package, so I'm not sure I'd want to replace them with longtubes or not, its making a scary amount of power as it is.... Definitely thinking Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-back and a 3" cutout tho...
Then whatever is left after that and paying for college winter quarter is going into whatever else I think it needs, which might include a 58mm tb, depending on how much funding I have left lol

Well, this engine was built to SLP spec's on a special motor build they did on a Corvette back in the 90's.... so yeah looks like SLP had it figured out...lol

BBKs 58mm comes with a built in airfoil, I assume Holley's does as well. I think both the TB and the catback will provide noticeable increases.
