I have a 1993 Z28. I am experiencing a problem when I start my car. This does not always happen, but sometimes it won't idle. I know it is fuel injected, but it smells like a carb that is loaded up or flooded. I can (it is an automatic) start in 1st gear and gun it and run through the gears to redline in each one and this sometimes helps. Any ideas on what is causing this. I have a gut feeling that it is a fuel delivery problem. A guy once told me that he thought it was the fuel pump relay. Injectors clogged??? The induction system has not been modified. The only aftermarket piece is a Flowmaster muffler. Any help will greatly be appreciated!

It could be a couple of things. A faulty fuel pressure regulator can leak into the mainifold. You could have injectors leaking. The Idle Air Controller could be failing. This method (http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/) will flash the SES light to see if there are any codes stored in your PCM.

while your there as far as fuel goes a new fuel filter cost me 7 bucks at discount, what i'm saying is its just a very cheap way to replace a possible problem. Good luck

Thanks 94GM. You are right. The simplest things can sometimes cause big problems.

Thanks for the tip. I will try this as well as changing the fuel filter like 94 Green Machine suggested. Between these two I hope that will clear it up! Thanks again!
