I am thinking about taking the car to the track now that the cooler weather is getting here. Will be on stock tires...

What RPM's should I try to launch at? Any helpful tips would be appreciated.

Wish I was a track fanatic bro, or I'd help you. You should see some great times with the cooler weather though. Think some guy on another site posted just under 12 seconds and his was an A6. Should be able to do better if your shifts are efficient. I could be wrong. :) Are you adding ground effects to your car? Most tracksters would laugh as it would add unnecessary weight. I'm more into the aesthetics of my Camaro though. I want to win car shows, not races. :) Are you a moderator by any chance?

I would go somewhere and practice. Find the happy medium between spinning and bogging and start off with that rpm range at the track. As you already know go around the box and just spin the tires enough to clean them off. This will give you an idea on how well the track is prepped and how well the car will hook. Not sure on the newer cars either so you might be able to slip the clutch a little to keep the rpms up without spinning the tires which will help as well.

I am not a big track guy either... just wanted to go and play around a bit and see what she will do. I am also into the car shows and attend as many as possible.

Not sure about the ground effects yet, this will have to be Lori's decision.. I am waiting for the Z28:thumbsup:

yeah you could say I am a moderator...

If I could get a 13.00 to low 13's I would be happy... dippin into the 12's would really make me happy!

With over 11,000 posts, I'd say you are qualified! I was a little disappointed when I heard the Z was coming out. I just spent so much money on my car and now I don't want to part with it. :) If you get one, I'm happy for you man! Should be an awesome Shelby GT500 stopper! :chuckles:

I would prob try it with both on and off and see what your SOT feels like on the launch. Once again it will give you a basic idea on where to start at the track because we all know tracks are different and it really depends on how well they prep that night.

Oh without a doubt you need to turn "Competitive Mode" on if you are going to get the wheels to spin for a nice launch. At least that is from my understanding of all three modes. Wow, 37,000 posts?! *faint*

I didnt actually recieve one of the first ones, cause my car ended up going to Pontiac, MI and was delayed a month.

But we did happen to get a pretty low number.... VIN #227 car #74 off the assembly line. Built the first week of production. Ordered it on Oct 13th & Delivered on May 14th.

Nice to see you are taking it to the track. What is the sense of having a quick car if you dont run it. Almost every car I have ever had has seen some track time, even the slow ones. Never had much interest in car shows as they always seemed pretty boring to me.
It is tough to launch a car on street tires as you will have to get used to how much power to give it and what rpm to launch at. Bogging or blowing the tires away will kill your ET. Slipping the clutch some helps but its hard on the clutch. If you can get better than a 2.1 60' you are doing very well.

from people i talked to said that with their M6 camaro they rolled 1 or 2 feet off the line and then dumped the clutch. with stock tires! i think about 4000 rpms is what they said they launched. hooked pretty good i seen them at the track pretty often.
