I had the fortunate oppurtunity to live with a 2010 SS as my rental car for 3 weeks. At my corporate rate ~$40/day no less. I was the envy of all my coworkers on travel at the same time in their Vibes and Camrys

The SS was Yellow and grabbed attention where ever I went. Special parking offered; Ladies letting me know how much the loved the car; Kids coming up to me in parking lots.

Impressions:
More Room than my 95 Z28 Convertible
Easier to get in/out of than my 95
Missed my 6 speed and exhaust
Awesome MPG
Sneaky quick
Very Comfortable and Very Quiet interior - liked the Bluetooth
Wide - I could use some reverse auto adjust mirrors like my Burb

When I get back home and get in my 95, I kept looking for the button that would transform it into a 2010.... My 95 doesn't seem as quick now and certainly much louder. The Wife loved it as well and we're planning a spot in the garage for a 5th Gen Convertible

I was thinking about renting one for a trip this fall but was wondering how many miles were you allowed on the rental?

Unlimited Miles...

I even considered taking it the drag strip...
Didn't have a helmet and thought what if someone got hurt my fault or not. That would have put my corporate offices at risk. Oh well...

BTW - My son got close to my corporate through priceline... (No Camaro thogh) ~40/day even if they say it's too low. Hertz Full Size and then you deal at the counter :)

Unlimited miles sounds pretty good. I'm going to have to check more into this maybe give avis a call and get some quotes.

Last month my wife and I were driving back to ky and stopped in daytona beach. At the hotel met some guys who were testing at daytona speedway and they had the SS rental from avis also. I think they said it cost them $100 with insurance a day. They were talking about how much they were giving it a thorough flogging. They were race car drivers and couldn't believe the avis gave them the SS knowing how they were going to be with it. It was a slick car though. They were letting me check it out pretty good.

Did you find it particularly difficult to get the Camaro from AVIS? I'm finding all kinds of difficulty trying to rent one or a Corvette for that matter.

I have tried to get one a few times and I can't find one for the life of me the majority of the time. Even if I try and rent 6 months out nobody has them.

Phoenix had a boat load of LS and SS Camaro in multiple colors... BUT keep in mind when I rented the car the PHX NASCAR race had ended several weeks prior. I'm sure they "brought" many in to make them available for those fans...

From reading other posts Avis has pulled their Camaro's either for resale, since the Camaro has the highest resale value of cars out there right now, or because of winter. I had heard they will be reloading up their fleets here soon but have heard some people have paid upwards to 150 a day for them :yikes:
