I will soon be purchasing a Supercharger not sure which one if anyone knows of a better Supercharger than Vortec or Powerdyne let me know. Well the question I came to ask you guys is I have a pretty much stock motor on my 93' LT1 and was wondering if I needed to lower the compression at all and if so what would be the cheap way to do it? If you guys think its stupid to put a Supercharger on a pretty much stock engine let me know and tell me what I should spend the money on.

Do you know an estimated cost of the procharger?

man let me tell ya what ive told so far, first off, your lookin at around 3000 for it... but from what im hearing, because our motors are such high compression.. 10:1 that we need to get it down to around 8.5:1 or so..... and u can do that by changin the pistons... ive got a chance to get a turbo for really cheap.. but i dunno if i want to, cause id have to change the pistons etc.

I have tuned many stock LT-1 and LS1 with superchargers on them. The only thing you need to change is the injectors and fuel pump.of course I install a conservative tune, lIke with any thing you can run Nitrous on a stock motor also,it's all in the tune...

Procharger has a great set up. Like 93z28ati9psi was saying, it comes with an innercooler which is very benificial! I test drove a Z with the procharger set-up and I was very impressed! They are a bit more expensive but Procharger's price is worth every dollar believe me. Once you raise the Psi level then you're looking into upgrading your fuel system, Ignition system, compression ratio, not to mention programing/tuning your system once all is said and done depending on your power application. Just keep in mind how Psi you plan to run and figure out from there as to what your system will need to be able to function in sync and perform at it's best. I have a powerdyne running 4.5 psi on a stock set-up but tunned appropriately and I have had no problems whatsoever. If you're going for a decent budget set up go for powerdyne, they won't eat your wallet too much. If you're going for some serious action and power and not too picky on cost, go for the procharger. The have a good warranty program and they make a good product, no BS! Good luck!

I haven't dyno'ed my Z so I can't give you accurate numbers. I can guesstimate but I don't like providing information I'm not very certain of ........BUT, I'll guesstimate anyways, somewhere close to 400 hp.....please don't quote me on that though. I was told possibly more but I think realisticly somewhere close to that. I have yet to get some numbers on paper so untill I do that I won't know for sure. I'm sure some guys would like to boast that they have over 400hp easy on 4.5 psi but unless you have a handful of quality mods I don't think that would be realistic. Like I said, I'm not sure where I stand untill I see proof on paper, then I can provide some solid evidence for those who ask. Sorry I couldn't really answer your question.

You guys are talking RWHP right? Well I guess so if your your talking about dyno #s.

yes rwhp....

Mr.Squeelerz

yup...that's right .....rwhp........The power that most people are concerned about.

Thats sounds about right for your rwhp of 400. Thats pretty damn good. Well post the dyno #'s when you get them in. If you ever go to the track post your times also. Thanks for the help guys.

rwhp is the only thing you should be concerned about unless your trying to find out how much power your losing through the drivetrain

Well its the only thing I'm concerned about but when you tell someone how much hp you have then telling them the crank hp instead of rwhp would be ( I do anyways) better.

What about alcohol injection or alcohol spray? heard of that?

i believe alcohol injection is more a cooling agent. instead of an intercooler your spray it and it cools the air down i think. dont quote me on it though

I just got my car back from my Dyno tune using LT1-edit software:

338 rear wheel horsepower
361 rear wheel torgue

My tech says I lose 16 % through the drive train. I so, I have

400 crank horsepower
429 ft-lbs crank torgue

...on 106,000 miles

I have a 6.5 psi Powerdyne. My whp is 334 and 361 torque on the Dyno. Drop me an e-mail if you want a pdf of my torque curve.
