O.K. I have my heads off my '94 Z. So I decided to soak the tops of the pistons with Sea Foam Deep Creep. I did all 8 pistons. I went back a bit later & noticed that 7 of the 8 pistons still had a puddle of Deep Creep in them but the #1 piston was dry.. I loaded up my #1 piston again with Deep Creep & once again a couple hours later it was gone. Could this be a sign of a bad set of rings? The car has 86,000 on it.
I hope not....

I will do a compression check once I get the head back on.
Thanks
Eddie

Just a thought, and I hope this isn't too late. Could it be that the ring gaps are indexed almost on top of each other, or maybe the other ring gaps are full of carbon build up. I'm not extrememly familiar with the LT1 internals, it may even have gapless rings for all I know. How long did it take the stuff to drain past the piston, was it like, immidiately? Just curious, don't know if this helps or not.

Normally before taking the heads off I do a compression check. That's really the only way to know.
