Hello to all, new member here with a few questions...I am looking at purchasing a 1994 Camaro with the 3.4L? v6 and an auto trany. I was looking into buying it to turn into strictly a drag car. Just wondering what all it was going to take to make this happen. The car has 127,000 on it and I didnt know whether or not the tranny would be of any use or not trying to mate it to a v8. I do know for sure I'm going to drop the v6 and put in some kind of larger v8 such as a 350 or 400 smallblock. Just wondering what else was weak on these v6's that I should look into swapping out. Didn't know if the rearend/gears (no clue what kind of gearing it has) in it were suitable for the track or if those were going to have to be replaced as well. The car is going to need to be able to hold up to somewhere between 400 and 500 horsepower though. All input appreciated in advance!

rearend is the same as the v8s. your going to need all new suspention, and i think the steering ratio is different. a ecu is obvious as well.

Hey thanks for the quick reply! Just wondering what kind of suspension kit/parts would be a good choice to go with. Keep in mind it is a drag car so cornering and handling are not a big factor.

your not wanting to do a LS1 or LT1 swap are you??
anyway... you will want to look at getting some billestien sp? dunno if I spelled that right but they make some good parts for suspension!

I wasn't looking into getting a lt1 or ls1, but rather just a regular carburated(sp?) chevy small block v8 of some sort.Besides the suspension what else am I looking into doin on this car to get it to all work right together?

I dunno much about carbed engine's?
I do know that with some you wont get any A/C!! and that would suck.. but maybe their are ways to bypass it and get it if you wanted it, will the car be strictly a drag car or just a daily driver/street rod?

The car is going to be strictly drag so whether or not the a/c works is not a big problem. Not too worried about anything working besides the bare necessities in it.
