I just bought a 91 z28 with a 350 tpi. The problem is that my tranny is not the original. I first found out when I tried to change the transmission support. The original wouldn't fit. I compared it with the one on the car and it didn't look anything alike. So went back to the store and tried to find one like it but was hard since I don't know what tranny it has. The closest I got was from a 95 z28 and that's the one im using now but it wears out too quickly. Is there any way I could find out what tranny I have? Thanks for the help. By the way my tranny is auto.

Look for numbers on it, then go from there.

Is the pan shaped like this???

--------
i******i
i******i
i******/
i*****/
------

If so does it have 11 or 13 bolts holding the pan on??

or is it more or less square?

Also does it have a small round canister with a line coming out of the center of it?? It would either be poking out of the rear just above and to the passenger side of the mount or out of the passenger side just above the pan near the fluid lines.

It has 16 bolts and the pan is squared.

You have a 700R4/4L60.
It's and automatic overdrive and is not an electronic version.
