OK, I bought this car off Ebay and had to hard wire the headlights to the battery cause they do not work of the headlight switch. I thought that the switch was bad so I went out and bought a new one. Guess what that was not the problem. So I do not get to drive the newest addition to my cars. The car is a 1983 Z28 2.8 auto. Any one have any ideas what it could be before I start to tear the wiring apart? Thanks for the advice in advance, Scot

OK ,first I hope you dident buy it as a Z28 they dident come with the 6 cylinders only 305s ... you would need to find the power wire to the switch and see if it has 12V going to it if not you need to trace the leads back to the source which in this case would be at the positive post at the starter they have fusable links in the wires and I would bet yours is burned out .. the main power is all routed through the links at the starter so that would be the place to start ..

Nah, I bought it cause I love Camaros. I really don't care if it is a Z28 I know my other one is a Z and that is all that matters. :D SO I will take a look at the wiring and the plug in for the switch on Thursday. Hey, BBCAM, Do they make any performance parts for these V-6's ? I am going to give it to my son but it needs a new carb and I thought that it might be easier just to get a aftermarket one. Scot

They make a few (and I mean few) performance parts for the 2.8L engines but they really arent a good engine to hot rod , a good rebuild onthe carb and clean out the carbon build up under the intake (you might as well plan on resealing it ) as they allways leak .. a good exhaust and air filter will make a difference and they do get good mileage when driven with a light foot ... we just put together a 88 firebird for a friends son with a 2.8 FI engine ..

Thank You, BBCAM for all the advice on both of my cars that you have given me. I will be asking more questions in the future and will be watching for your advice as it is always sound advice.
