Ok guys Im ceramic coating my headers as we speak. I didnt realize that ceramic coat was clear. DUH!!!!!!!! So After I finish my coat i want to paint the headers. I was thinking, which isnt very safe, like a silver. Something to make my engine bay POP out. Or one of the colors in my flames. Please help me pick a color. Im gonna try and post a poll but Ive never done it. If there is no poll that means I computer dumb and couldnt figure it out. Thanks again for any input.
P.S. It came out of the box black powder coated I think. It was black in color. I had to sand paper it to get a good hold on the ceramic coating spray.

i thought the heat from the headers would just burn off the paint anyways?

I ceramic coated the headers and then Im goona paint them and then do alitle more ceramic coating over them again. Right now I have my headers cooling off in the oven. Im curing the headers according to the instructions. Everything should be ok. I dont have any color under the hood so I was thinking like a chrome or silver and then Ill do like a casing around my air cleaner assembly and then paint that too. Help keep the air cooler too :) This poll will be open for a little while b/c I dont even have the money for spray paint right now. 2 weeks :) YEAH!!!!!! There will be before and after pics dont worry

hmmm.........still the same factory color. Havent had the funds to put them on the on so I havent went through the troubles of baking and painting and more baking and ceramic coating. Good call though. I will get that done next week and post up the pics. And then when they get installed I will have to post up the under hood shots too :)

well I plan on getting some stuff for my TPI from Irocman88. He is selling SLP Runners and a 58MM TB and a port matched plenum. Then Im gonna get me a big mouth base from TPIS.com. That should be an easy 50 horsepower. Then my car will breathe really well with the headers and true duels : OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

well all that with some nitrous and I should be seeing 12's no problem in my slomaro. And then when I get a dyno tune and some gears and a stall then 11's here I come :)

One of my buddie runs a high-mid 9's in bracket series (race car only! sees no street well . when the street machine shows come in he will take it out, its NO-E anywho) he is helping me put the 406 togather and we are using his set up as a base but changin somethings (dont know if I will be able to hit 9's like him but hope to hit mid 10's low 11's ... I know the 383 should hit 12's of some kind just fine with no spray) but heck ... its all in the fun of building. I think I have more fun just driving it around on the week-end then I do have running it lol (kinda crazy) also you know you take less chance to break stuff :D

hey iroc what kind of gears you got in your car? I REALLY REALLY REALLY want 4:10's but everyone says I should go the 3:73 route with an automatic. I have drag radials. My car is more of an 1/8th mile car anyways. What do you think of master of 3rd gens?
Iroc350kid
01-09-2006, 09:11 PM
:D I would get 4.11's that is what I'm gonna run (due to doing mild street) keep in mind if you still have the 700R4 you can always use OD if you really wanna keep the rpm's down. But 3.73's is also a good choice if you wanna drive it down to the track and whatnot. Either way you go it will help the 1/4 time (or should) My buddies who run 4.11's shoot out of the hole real quick :D

I dropped the starter and oil filter, plugs and plug wires and v-covers and they slid right in from the bottom with out jacking up the engine, I would suggest try to get it high off the ground 9higher the better) and aheva friend on top to help pull/guide around things

Stay with the color they are. There is nothing I like more than a clean non-rusted pair of headers showing when you open the hood. Nothing too flashy, but noticable to an car lover.

Dude, get some model paint and paint your headers. Then once the paint begins to smoke from the heat, tell all the ricers it's the newest thing! That smoke is actually a new way of gaining horsepower! Because the paint is being burnt off, that means that heat is escaping out of the headers and allowing your motor too cool off which means more horsepower!
Sorry..just pulled it out of my butt...I am bored....don't ban me please
