Hi to my Canadian counterparts, I have a question. I want to buy some parts from the JEGS catalogue this summer (headers, mufflers and the rest of the exhause pipes...) and from the catalogue it comes to about $370 US (Complete exhaust kit), wheras if I buy from my local engine shop it would cost $680 CAN without any pipes from the header to the muffler. With a rough exchange calculation it would cost $430 CAN without factoring in shipping or dreaded customs. What I'm getting to is will shipping and customs be enough to make my buy from the local shop or should I still venture out on my own? Oh almost forgot buying from the shop is 680 not installed. And how much is shipping to Montreal is from JEGS in Ohio if anyone knows. And finally how would I be charged customs? GST? Thanks everyone.

I almost bought from them. I would call their customer service and you'll be able to get a good idea. The duty/shippinh will definately be hefty.

I think thats how they make their money is by shipping. I have called almost every company in America even ebay and to ship something to Canada is really very expensive. I am sure there are places in Canada that has a good performance shops.

When I buy from Sunnit or jegs I didn't find the shipping to be tooo bad , but it sure goes up there when it weighs a bit.

I bought my centerforce clutch from Jegs and it cost $800 CAD. The cheapest price I found locally was $1050. Most places though were around $1200 CAD. So I saved a few hundred right there.
Something I find that most people don't realize is that Jegs has their own brokerage company that they use. This means when they give you a shipped price, you just have to convert it canadian dollars. There are no customs or duties, it is all included in the price they give you. This means its shipped right to your door with no extra fees. Hope this helps for any Canadians thinkin of ordering from Jegs.

Wow, that really helps. Hopefully by the middle of May I'll have worked enough hours to afford what I want. Thanks

I buy all parts out of the US, shipping is good and the dollar is trading well. You can't lose. Stay away from UPS, nothing but bad luck.
Ordered set of plugs a few days ago and getting shipped USPS global priority, was wondering will I have to pay duty and what is rate?

ifs its made in America or Mexico then no. Gotta love that free trade. Now brokerage is another thing.

I bought a few things from the states, usully off of ebay.
I 2nd that UPS comment, I have nothing but bad luck getting stuff shipped thru them, I usully get a large bill a month after the stuff is dropped off in the mail that is due in a few days:nono:
It's because there invoice dates are only issued 1 time per month so if your not expecting it, it can be a shock.
Sometimes the price for something works out as the same with taxes, shipping and duty, however sometimes (like optisparks) you can save a TON.
Bad things are with warenties and if you get scammed then dealing with the US is bad.
