some dude posted this on another site:
Dynoed 326rwhp/338rwtq stock.. with just some simple 15minute dyno tuning we managed 344rwhp/353rwtq. Not bad for a stock car... backed up the HP with a 110mph trap speed, at 13.1 and 2.1 60'.
What exactly is a dyno tuning and how much does it cost? Are results like this typical?

It can be, depending on the mods that have been done, a custom tune is the way to go in the long run. using LS1 edit and autotap. You can really get your numbers right. Hypertech and other similar products are generic tunes. All motor's react differently to mods. The dyno passes during the tune give you accurate information at WOT ( wide open throttle). I have seen guys that get cam, heads etc and complain about there setup. Why? A custom tune is a must with extreme mods. I have heard of upwards 45 hp off of custom tunes. Again this all is based on your mods and the setup you are running. Cost is another story. Most places do a intial dyno tune for around 450.00. They will reduce that after the intial tune to around 100.00 for future mods. Some even offer 2 additional free tunes with that price. You can do the mail order things or get a custom tune for around 250.00. But again, the dyno is allowing to get more accurate readings. Do you research and make the right choice. I did my new motor, heads and cam all at the same time. That way i didnt get it tuned 3 different times. Saved a few bucks and the results were awsome. By the way with a A4, if you do a cam swap, you will need to get it tuned regardless.. Sorry to ramble, but seen to many guys blow money on mods and not get the car tuned the right way. Wasted HP and performance
