Start the car up after it has been sitting up over night. Listen for any knocking sound. It's common on ls-1's, but sometimes the knock can be a little louder than usual. They call it "piston slap". The knocking should go away after about 20 seconds. Some of them you have to hear for it or you may not notice it. Supposedly the rings don't hold up too good on the ls-1's. That's the reason for the oil consumption. I've only seen ls-1's use oil when they are run hard. I've never seen one use it that has been driven "normal."
