Correct. The stock gauge of my 01 ss still says 205-210. I used ATAP to find out correct reading. With Manual Fan switch it went down to 170! BUT NOT ON THE STOCK GAUGE, ONLY IN ATAP INTERFACE.
So my story for you should have you jumping off the chair, going to the local speed shop, and buying an aftermarket gauge, or just trust that the 160 is doing its job.
Definately get the manual fan switch though!
