Purchased used 2001 Z28 with 22K miles. Changed the oil to 5w30 Mobil 1. Changed it again at 26 and 30K respectively with the intention of regular changes at 5K mile intervals. Anyway, I don't buy the answer but am willing to do what the delarship wants so as to have a record of what is going on. Would appreciate any input as I plan on keeping this car forever, if I can.

Just so you know there is a service bulliten for the 01 F-Bodies LS1's.
Excessive oil consumption is being caused by bad rings. Get on the dealers a$$!!! My good friend from work just went back & forth with his dealer for about a year!!! Then we found a bulliten on the web. I don't have it on hand but I will get it. They will beat you around the bush. He finally had all his rings replaced. And what do ya know. No more low oil lights & oil consumption!!
