After doing some initial searching on the web this may not be an unusual problem and it has something to do with the rings. Called dealrship, as it is still under bumper to bumper warranty, they want to change back to conventional oil as they suspect that the synthetic may be the cause. Been running synthetic in nearly every auto that I have owned and NONE have ever had a problem with oil usage between changes. I thought GM shipped the vette with Mobil 1 from the get go. Anyway, I don't buy the answer but am willing to do what the delarship wants so as to have a record of what is going on. Would appreciate any input as I plan on keeping this car forever, if I can.

Just so you know there is a service bulliten for the 01 F-Bodies LS1's.
Excessive oil consumption is being caused by bad rings. Get on the dealers a$$!!! My good friend from work just went back & forth with his dealer for about a year!!! Then we found a bulliten on the web. I don't have it on hand but I will get it. They will beat you around the bush. He finally had all his rings replaced. And what do ya know. No more low oil lights & oil consumption!!
