1994 Blazer Knocking Noise

I have a 94 Blazer 4x4 with the 4.3 and an auto. Well, I took it out to a friend's house the other day and we did a little trail riding and now it is knocking, but not from the engine I don't think. I didn't have time to get the inspection cover off tonight, but it sounds like it is coming straight out of the inspection cover. I'm not really sure what all could cause this. I'm wondering if a torque convertor bolt backed off, or the weight came off the flywheel. I know the tranny was rebuilt about 8K miles ago (truck has like 130-131K now). Any thoughts would be appreciated, THANKS!

Yeah I would get the cover off and look for a backed out bolt as well.

I have had both a bolt back off, and a broken flywheel that sounds really bad. As Glenn said, get the cover off and have a look.

I thinking it will be a backed out bolt. The trans only had 2 bolts connecting it to the engine when I bought it. I will let you guys know what I find tomorrow sometime.

BTW, Its only making noise when its at idle or slowing down from WOT so I am leaning toward bolt.

It only had 2 holding the trans to the engine when I got it. I found it though, it was loose bolts on the TC to flywheel. Seems to be fine now
