If you want nothing but the best, 0W30 is the way to go and Amsoil ATF.
If you have the dual over head cam, you use oil filter EAO11 (look for an "S" in the VIN").
If you have a regular cam, then you use EAO34 (look for a "U" in the VIN).
Since you've never used Amsoil before, order a bottle of AEFCN flush.
Flush the oil first.
The DOHC takes 5.5 quarts and the single takes 4.6 quarts.
Order enough quarts for one year plus one extra to keep throughout the year to top off when necessary.
Run the oil and filter for one year or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. DO NOT change the oil until that time or you are throwing away your money. The oil does exactly what it says and it works fine. I have over 21,000 miles on the 0W30 in my Z28 right now and it's still running perfect. I have over 9,000 miles in the oil in my SUV.
The transmission takes about 14 quarts. You'll need to find a place that has the machine. You should also drop the pan and have them change the transmission filter. Change the Amsoil transmission fluid every 60,000 miles.
Keep using these fluids as I said above and that car should run for multiple hundreds of thousands of miles with this stuff. I kid you not. I've heard of people putting 500,000+ miles on the engine and after opening the engine, the parts are still up to factory spec. After you use this stuff for a couple years and see the amazement I have seen, the light bulb will finally go on in your head and then you will begin to understand why I keep posting about this stuff over and over and over. People just don't get it. It SAVES YOU MONEY... LOTS OF IT.
The 0W30 lasts up to 1 year or 35,000 miles (requires the use of 2 filters if you go that far.)
If I changed my oil every 3,000 miles, I would use about 70+ quarts of oil during that time. With Amsoil, I ONLY HAVE TO USE 7!! The current wholesale price of this oil is $7.50/qt. That's 7 x $7.50 = $52.50.
70 quarts of the cheapo stuff from the discount is like $2.50-3.50/bottle. 70 x $2.50 = $175 + all of the filters and hassle of 10 or so oil changes. 10 filters @ $6/ea. is another $60.
Plus the fact that all of this stuff is made HERE in the good ole USA, NOT FROM IRAQ or other foreign countries. KEEP THE MONEY IN THE COUNTRY!!
Remember, if this oil didn't work as it says on the bottle, the company would have went out of business 30+ years ago. You would see people complaining all over the place in droves about blown engines. I know it's really, really hard to think about going over 3,000 or 5,000 miles, but believe me... THIS STUFF DOES NOT BREAK DOWN! I have seen videos and read tons of documentation on this stuff. It's truly amazing at what it can do. This is why the majority of NASCAR uses it in their cars despite what it says on their hoods.
Good luck!
