Safety Rear Bump stops?

Hello Canadian, anyone who lives or who knows about the Ontario DOT of vehicle safety rules that are required on vehicles.

I have a 1988 Camaro, and I was wondering if I could remove the rear bump stops? Will that affect the safety rules or are you allow removing it? The reason, I want to know since I am planning to put wider tires in the rear.

Please let me know thanks.
