Got the SS tuned today...

Like the title says I went and got my SS tuned today. Found out my SES light is in fact a bad cat on the pass. side so I got to get that taken care of but other than that I'm happy with the tune. You can def notice a difference when you get on it as far as the firmer shifts, he said he increased them by 10% and it will run a lot cooler now. He also will tune it after any more mods I get for free too so thats good.

It was just a tune with a laptop, no dyno numbers or anything. He said if everything is fine with the car i should get around a 30 hp gain. I need to get the cat fixed for everything to work well and he said it also showed that i need the intake freed up, he said a cai would take care of that though. The say tune on Matts (Z/ya's) car made a difference of about three tenths at the track.

Not to rain on your parade, but w/o putting the car on on dyno during a tune, how do you get a proper tune w/o getting parameters while the car is operating under different driving conditions?
If you were not on a dyno how do you calculate a 30 hp gain when you did not know what you started with?
I'm curious as to what laptop program the tuner used.
And how is a cai going to free up the intake? Maybe if you ported the intake....................a cai won't "free" up your intake.
Firmer shifts?............I take it you have an A4. Run cooler?.............did you get your fan on/off temps recalibrated?
Sounds like you what you got was a (tune?) from a handheld

Yeah i know there cant be any exact numbers because it wasnt put on a dyno but it was based off of other dyno tunes. Im not sure the exact name of the laptop tuner but the guys name is Jesse Bubb, wait 4 me performance. Its like the same tune you were to get if you send your computer in and get it tuned. Maybe free up the intake is not what i meant, he said that because the hole to suck in air into the lid is so small that opening it up more or getting a cai would help in suck in more air. Yes i have an A4 so the shifts are firmer... And yes the fans turn on and off and different times now so it can run cooler. It definately wasn't a handheld, it was a laptop. Yeah its not as good as a dyno tune but it is also cheaper too. He also drove it with the computer attached and got readings from that.
