the wipers is caused my a little arm that has a spring on it. The spring has broke and there is no fix for it. You will need to either get a new arm assy, or just get a whole new motor.

And if you have a cyl misfire, you need to find out what plug it is that is not firing. If you are getting the P0300 code (multi cyl misfire) then you need to check your plug wires and make sure that they are on right. Then you need to start looking at the coils. I have had to put 6 of them on my wifes 97 3.8 camaro (same engine).

How many miles on the car.
First step would be to take care of the bases. Do a tune-up on it and replace the plugs and wires.
If your smelling gas that means one or more of the cylinders are not firing correctly. Now after doing the plugs and wires and your still getting the problem I would look at coils.

messing up the firing order will make it run like crap. And as I said above, the coils go out on these engines all the time. Do as Mase said and get new wires and new plugs and go from there. If you think you need the coil or coils, just go to summit and get the MSD 3 pack for 100 bux. It's worth it.
