How do find out EXACTLY what BRAND & MODEL Brakes I have??

I recently got my ENTIRE brake system redone and I would like to know EXACTLY what BRAND and MODEL # Brake calipers, Rotors, and Brake disc shoes I have..

Obviously I would ask the mechanic but I SERIOUSLY feel $160 for 2 brake pads is WAYYYY OVERCHARGED!! and I now I obviously don't believe a word they say.

There appears to be codes on the edge of the calipers that I can see from outside.. Are those just casting #'s? or can you somehow decode them? There has got to be a way to find out exactly what a person has on their car...

Thanks.

Yeah tell me about it!!

Here are pics of the rear brakes from outside the car. I don't trust that the shop put CHEAP ones on and charged me 3X's more than what I can get Monroe Ceramic 3 year warranty ones for more than 1/2 the price!

I want to know exactly what they put on!

If I were you, i would go to a parts store and find the most expensive set of brake pads you could buy, have them print off the recipt for them and see if the price adds up with the price per hour your mechanic charges. They may have charged you a arm and a leg for the work.

Ok, I did a search for 2530 810 Brake Caliper. Thats National brand. Advanced auto parts carries them as the "best quality replacement." But still your only talking $50 a piece tops. I saw cheapy ones on there for $11.95.

The numbers I see on my calipers on the edge.. what are they for? Casting numbers? Able to use to decode exactly what I have for calipers?

OH WAIT! You mean those numbers on my front calipers are infact a brand called "NATIONAL" and they sell for about $50??

Got a link? I can't seem to locate ANY "NATIONAL" brand pads on Advanted Autoparts? "NATIONAL" isn't listed in the websites supplies other than a "NATIONAL WHEEL END COMPONENTS" except there is nothing on brakes..

yeah I know...but the calipers are a lil overpriced but not nearly as bad as the rotors and pads....I paid 100 for all 4 rotors and 60 bucks for all my brake pads

Yeah I think you def got overcharged. When I bought rotors and pads for my Z I think my total was like just over $300, but that wasn't labor because I ordered them from ws6store and did them myself. Idk how to find out what kind but unless you have REALLY nice pads, two aren't worth $160. I think my pads were like $130 or something for all 4 and like $170 for the rotors...

Lol. I thought he said the calipers. I searched for 2530 180 calipers. I was thinking pads. Is there a part number on the pads?

I was reffering to National Brand.
