1/4 rear gear equasion ?

Does anyone know the equasion for calculation the best rear gear for the quarter?

I want to plug in wieght, horsepower, tire size, and trans..

just in case, its an late 80's malibu station wagon. Powerglide trans brake. Built 377.

I'm not sure on this one. I know that with the 700r4 or the 4l60e you can run 4:10's and you are maxing out 3rd gear with a stock motor. I have 3.73's and after I get done with my motor I should be maxing out 3rd. You may try a search on here or google to see if you can find it. If you do post up your results.

Gu2 : Axle rear, 2.73 ratio,
gu4 : Axle rear, 3.08 ratio,
gu5 : Axle rear, 3.23 ratio,
gu6 : Axle rear, 3.42 ratio
