3.73 Gears

hey guys, i have a 2000 Z28 A4, i was wondering what kind of difference i will be getting with buying some 3.37 gears? is it worth buying and paying someone to install them...?

im kinda debating between a torque converter and gears, what should i get first ha

What do you have now? I had a 93 6spd. with 3.23's, went to 3.73's. It didn't seem a lot different. And the truth of the matter is if you do not get tires that stick, your 1/4 mile time will be no better, (I am assuming you may have 2.73's) mine wasn't. That was with decent tires on 9.5" rims. For myself it was not worth it.

If its a daily driver I would do 3.73s. I have 4.10s in mine (A4) but I never really drive the car, maybe once a month. As for what to get first, it really doesn't matter but I would get one right after the next to see the best improvement on the drivetrain. As stated you will need to get good traction to utilize the new setup.

with a six speed I would go 410's, much improved acceleration and still not bad going down the highway. I've been running 410's for 7 years, and actually considering 456's.

I think he was refering more towards the aspect of daily driving since Midnight doesnt really track the car.

I don't hardly ever take my car to the track(haven't been in 3-4 years), it's is my daily driver, she has NEVER had a drag radial or slick mounted on her. First gear really isn't that bad, yes, she will spin if mashed in first, but, you can feather it and go like stank! I personnely(spel) wouldn't go any taller than a 410 with a m6. Like stated before I'm considering 430-456's, leaning more towards the 456's. And still gonna be strickly a street car. I have driven from Missouri to: Chicago, Omaha, North Carolina, and Texas with the 410's in(first mod to the car at <1000 miles) and have always got around 25-30 mpg on the highway. Some say that they kill your top end, but, I have had mine to 150+ mph multiple times and don't care to go any faster in her.
