Clutch Heating Up

I did a few runs tonite, and then launched my car at 3000 and she hooked up great, but i ate right through the clutch so i had to let off, is a common problem with these stock ls1 clutches when they get hot or something, seems to be fine otherwise

stock clutches just are not made to launch from anything over about 1500 and nothing past a little throtle. Stage 2 or 3 is what you will be wanting if you are going to be racing all the time.

If you can swing it, stage 2 is what would work best for what you do with the car. not a massive amount of grab, but enough to hold when you let off teh clutch.

Not that I know of. I'm an A4 guy so I would feel better if one of the M6 guys came in here and said something about that part.

most likely you'd have to do the slave/throwout bearing, is you clutch falling to the floor at all? if not then your slave might be ok, but i'd def do the throwout bearing

I think he just launched pretty hard and could smell the clutch. I wanted to hear from you M6 guys, hell he may not even need a clutch if he would keep his foot out of it lol.

Oh hell, I thought you where smelling it burning and slipping. If it feels fine, hell I would leave it unless you plan to hit the track a lot.

drag tires with a stock clutch is pointless, the stocker can't handle it and Tony is right, you are smelling your clutch burning and slipping. if you plan on just normal driving your clutch will be fine, if you want to race and launch then get a clutch that will hold up.
