Help - Clutch will not fully disengage

Just developed a problem with my clutch not fully disengaging. I was at the track making a pass, and when I went to put it in 3rd gear it wouldn't go in. I ended up coasting the rest of the track and I had to rev to get it to go in any gear.

The drive home it was very difficult to get in any gear and required rev matching. Reverse could only be accessed if I started the car in reverse.

I pulled the slave cylinder off, the rod appears to be in good shape however the boot was torn. Is there anything I should be looking for, or does anyone have any ideas what specifically that I broke?

Fluid level is good, and there is no visible leaks underneath the car.

get someone to press the clutch in and see if it works if not you might have a air bubble in the line

I bet your master cylinder is going out. You were at the track and stressed it beyond where it liked to be stressed to.

I will bet that you will see some damage on the clutch it's self. I had one shatter the springs out of it and it was doing this same thing.

So what is the best way to diagnois this problem? I orginally thought it was a slave related problem, but it sounds to me like it could be anything in the system.

I pulled the clutch master cylinder today. It is a little wet on the rod, but besides that I'm not sure what I should be looking for as far as damage or failure, thoughts?

If it's wet, then it's leaking and needs to be replaced. But, as for the clutch, you need to actually look at it. And that means dropping the trans and looking at the clutch it's self.
