There is really only one way for water to get into your trans. There is a breather on the top of the trans, and if you drove through high water, it could have gotten in. Or, if you had it out of the car, then it can get in that way as well.

Your P/S is the same. If the hood was off and it rained, it could have gotten in.

well i have no idea what happened then. I never removed the trans until recently and the car has always been kept inside a shop. Is there any way that a hose could be hooked up wrong or something? I dont want the same thing to happen when i put in a new trans.

Only one way I know of for water to get into the trans (other than what Tony mentioned) and that is if there is a leak in the cooler which goes into the radiator. A good way to take care of that is to run an external cooler and totally disconnect it from the radiator. Good move either way if you ask me.

PoSitive. I thought it was something else so I took it to be rebuilt and water was the Verdict after the trans shop tore it down.
