Is there supposed to be an inspection cover on LS1 T56's?
I have the trans bolted onto my motor in my car and you can see a little portion of the flywheel on each side of the block. Is there supposed to be a plastic cover or something for this? I would think it wouldn't be a good thing to have the flywheel exposed, even partially.

Not a clue. You can try the junk yards but I'm sure they will only sell them with the trans.

I may be thinking about a different trans. I was just looking at the T56 and I don't see any inspection holes that are as large as the one that I had pictured. Do you by chance have any pics of it?

I sure don't but I did find out that I do need them. They're two half-circle shaped pieces, one on each side of the block, because the bellhousing is wider than the block by a few inches.

Now you know what you need. is there enough room to drill and tap so that you can screw them on if you make them? I wouldn't think it would be that hard if you used sheet metal. I mean, there is no stress, just has to keep out dirt...

Does anyone know if one from an LT1 will work with an LS1 trans?

ding, nick you're fine, you really don't even need the black plastic piece it's worthless.

You sure? I can just imagine picking up a rock on the road and destroying the flywheel and clutch.
