I just got my car back from the tranny shop (it's a A4) and it won't downshift from 4th to second (at 55-60mph) or even if it's in 3rd it won't go to second unless I do it manually. I think it is the TV cable but I'm not sure...will it damage my trans manually downshifting/upshifting it? Anyone with auto trans exerience please help.

I had a problem with my tranny. It would not up shift from 1st to 2nd and up and up until about 4000 - 5000 rpm and when it did up shift, it kicked in hard making it seem like I was racing. I had to manually shift my A4 and it did not hurt my car but I only drove like that for about 3 days. I found out that it was not my tranny, it was my THROTTLE BODY POSITIONING SENSOR. It cost me $47.99 + tax and it was an easy bolt on replacement. I don't know if maybe this is the same prob you are having. Oh, one more thing, my SES light came on every once in awhile especially when the A/C was on and I have a 98 LS1.
