shift kit for the 4L60E

Guys:

I have a brand new dealer installed trans, and it just didn't shift to my satisfaction, but no one wanted to tackle a shift kit for it, so what to do?

Well, I found the answer in the PAW cat. ( PAW.com): B&M makes an ELECTRIC shift kit for this application; it's a 3 way switch that connects to the computer with just 2 wires! it has 'shift kit off' for normal driving, 'tow mode' which makes it shift about like a Ford C-6, and 'race' mode. Now fellas, let me warn you: this is the easiest shift kit I've ever installed ( in 20 years of doing it), and I love it, BUT, the race position, rain, and Posi DO NOT mix; it shifts so hard the car goes sideways through 1st, and 2nd, so BE CAREFUL; other than that, it's a blast. I don't remember how much shipping costs ( just a 'couple bucks), but the 'kit' itself is $29.95 - a total bargain to say the least!

So, do you work for B&M? Or PAW.com? You sure sound like a retailer.

I have a B&M Shift Improver Kit. I wanted to stay away from an electric one. How would anything electric effect something that has to do with fluid anyway?

Increses line pressure.

increasing line pressure through the pcm is pointless ... it wont "improve" shift speeds like a true shift kit, rather give you a firmer shift feeling tricking you into thinking you have a better shift. it can also cause more wear on the transmission, then installing a shiftkit, and adjusting the line pressue manually ... which only requires dropping the pan, and turning a dial. should be changing trans fluid every 6,000-9,000 miles along with the filter for maximum tranny life ... most never do this.

btw this sounds like a retailer to me.

I'm on the same page with Justin. I never would believe that an electronic setting could increase line pressure. To me it just doesn't make any sense.

Increasing the line pressure through a true pcm tune will give you the impression of a firmer shift but its nothing like a real shift kit. I've got the Trans Go kit installed. Chirps the tires on the 2-3 shift. Don't even ask about the 1-2 shift

Why won't they install a shift kit? Looks like you haven't found the right tranny shop. The dealers IMO aren't the best place to take your car for modifications. They do lots of repairs on cars to bring them back to factory condition but thats not what we're interested in is it?

I also have the trans go stage 2, works great to eliminate sloppy shifts with the stall.

I'm also interested. A shift kit will be one of my next mods if i'm able to do it by myself in the driveway. Is that possible? Also, what's the cheapest kit that's still good quality?

That's the same kit I saw on a parts site, maybe the same from the above link, and it looks pretty intimidating to install, so many parts and whatnot from what i can see in the picture on the site.
