rear end gear w/ antilock brakes
so far every shop I've called said that I need a GM gear becuase of my antilock brakes. I called GM up and for a 3.73 it's 865.54 for just the ring and pinion. Thats ubsurd. I did however find one shop that puts gears in the ford lightnings and they deal w/ the anti lock brakes on em and they said its just a sensor. They can take it off and put it on the new gear. Prob is, it cost 600 for the gears, installation, and speedo recalibration. Should i try to find another place or does that sound right? I thought it'd be 200 for the gear and bout 100 for installation.

what year is your car i think someone is trying to take you for a ride as to what brand of gears to use
i guess 600 bucks is not to bad,the gears cost a couple of hundred bucks, it's like 3-5 hours to do the job if things go well, and a lot longer if gears just do'nt wanna set up right. the most important thing is you gotta have someone who truely knows how to set up a ring and pinion, or you will be very unhappy. there is more to it then most people think, and sometimes it becomes very labor intensive to get it right.
