Angry Rear end clunks/Winds

Check this out. I have a 95z with 77k. Reasonly I have been experiencing problems with an audible clunk in the rear end, when it shifts from first to second. But it only does it when Iam not pressing the accelerator(when it is ready to shift and it shifts free) Also, I hear a winding noise when I an doing from 40 to 50 mph. However, it only does it when I am pressing the gas. One mechanic suggested to change the rear end oil and add a synthetic additive, which I've done; but, the clunk and the noise are still there. Althoug the noise is less, but it still bothers me. What is going on? I know I might need a new rear end!! How long can I drive this car without braking down on the road? Other than that, my z is extremely fast and it runs well.

Wink

I had the rear pinion gear changed...it cleared the winding noise.

If you drive it like you stole it, you may want to consider U-joints. My car does the same but I have not changed them yet.
