Skip Shift?

I am new to this. I just got my 96 Z28 yesterday, and when i'm starting out in first SOMETIMES it lights up and says "skip shift" and it blocks 2nd gear and acts like it wants me to go to 4th gear. What the hell is the point in this? Its on the verge of pissin me off. I HATE when it does this. Is there any way to bypass it, and can someone tell me what the point in this is?

Thanks,

Ryan

Skip shift was something chevy put in to improve gas mileage. Anyway it won't let you shift into 2nd unless you are over 2500rpms, if your under it'll shift you to 4th. You can buy a shift kit eleminator for it and that should take care of the problem. Hope this helps.

summit and slp have skip shift eliminators that just plug in, their alittle pricey but they work fine.or you can just drive over it and shift like at 2700-3000 grand, but if you do alot of city driving it is still a pain, and you should opt for the eliminator setup.
shout back on what you do.

yea i spent the $25 for the shifter and it works great. You are right about city driving and not having the eliminator, its very helpful. I guess GM decided they should do something to save gas mileage on a MUSCLE car. Who woulda though ?

if you're not an electrician major like me, you might check this site out. The kit cost a whole wopping $10 plus some pennies for shipping. Good luck!

go to performance, chevy, etc. etc. etc. and you can find a few cool things in there. Most of which you could conjur up yourself, and all of which are dirt cheep!
