Angry Transmission frustrations

I recent had my transmission rebuilt.

Then the very next day again the same problem it would not shift to second gear.

The only way it would shift to second gear is if I punched it and rev the rpm all the way to 4000-5000 mark almost redline. Just to where the yellow begins.

Then I returned it and I was told there was a problem with the brain of the transmission. So again it was taking out and repaired.

Had it for a week and what do you know all over again the **** would not shift I would have to floor it to get it to the yellow mark at 45 and then a hard shift would occur.

I brought it back to the Assh*les and they told me my timing is to advanced and it doesn't let the transmission shift properly.

In other words they are telling my the transmission is fine I just need a tuning adjustment with my engine???

The mechanic showed me what he meant when driving we would pull over and place it in park, while in park the engine would rev all the way up to the 2000 mark and then would not drop down unless you tap the gas then it would drop.

Anyone of my fellow camaro owners really know whats the deal with this transmission headache??

CHECK THE "TV" CABLE AND MAKE SURE IT IS HOOKED TO THE THROTTLE BODY PROPERLY IF IT IS HOOKED UP PROPERLY DISCONNECT IT AND PULL ON IT VERY EASY. IT SHOULD HAVE A SRING LOADED FEELING. OTHER THAN THAT THEY COULD HAVE PUT A CHECK BALL IN THE WRONG PLACE OR ONE OF THE SPRINGS COULD BE TO STRONG OR TO WEAK.THE ONLY WAY YOU WOULD FIND THIS OUT IS TO TAKE THE TRANNY APART AGAIN. IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT OUT AGAIN I WOULD FIND ANOTHER SHOP. CONTACT THE SHOP THAT FIRST DID THE WORK TO LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE ANOTHER SHOP LOOK AT THIER WORK. ALSO LOOK INTO SOME KIND OF LEGAL ACTION TO PROTECT YOURSELF. NOT A LAWYER!!!!GOOD LUCK

Whats up man . I am a technician here in va and who ever looked at ur car doesnt know what the hell they are talking about. First of all if your timing was off that would not cause a problem with your trans shifting into second gear. I think you should take it back to that shop and make them work on t untill they fix it . This is not a timing prooblem . Like the there guy said check your detent cable which is the one froom your trans to your throttle body . If that cable isnt adjusted right then it will do exactly what you are talking about . Take it back and tell them to adjust that cable and if they say that is right tell them to pull your trans pan off and check the cable linkage at the tranny . Another problem it could be is some bad valve body components . That would be teh shops problem . If they used the same valve body that was in it to begin with and they didnt do anything to it that could also be a problem . Also I would look into doing a BG auto trans flush. Take it to a chevy dealership to do that . aight man good luck with it. If you have any more questions just put it up and ill try to help u out . Lata

TSCONV ...if the Aluminum Driveshaft is from a 3rd Gen car it should fit ...spline counts are the same ...I just put one from an Auto Trans car behind my T5 Manual ...works great! If going from steel driveshaft only fitment issue you might have is Yoke Collars are larger diameter so if you accelorate hard forward collar may contact RH side of Trans tunnel. If it's going in the '92 you may not have this pronlem because I think they made Trans. tunnel a little wider (mine was going in an '83). Easy solution though replace old Rubber Trans mount with a Poly one ...eliminates most of the upward and sideways twisting movement (to be sure, I used a solid Steel one from Morosso)

You can use a 4th gen LS1 aluminum driveshaft in a 3rd gen, I did with no other modifications with my 700R4. As for the original thread problem, I would really be suspicious of the tv cable. Maybe you need a new one if it is stretched and the spring that is in the trans that tv cable pulls on will stretch as well. When all else fails put a pressure gauge on the trans and check the readings in all gears while sitting in the car with foot on brake so as not to drive through your garage. Good luck..

and as far as the idle goes if u can tap on the gas and the idle go down to where it should be thats prolly got something to do with the choke on your carb but im not saying ur timing is perfect or anything cuz if your timing is off enough it will cause ur idle to be high but ull notice other signs like hesitation and such with it also and tapping the gas wouldnt adjust the timing so the idle will go back down.

how much did you pay for the rebuild from what i see its a crappy shop

as for your idle problem it sounds like your butterflies are sticking open. I agree with everyone about your detent cable. If this is not properly hooked up it can give you a lot of problems when shifting and can also burn up your tranny
