Help! Trans mount broken???

I think i may have broken my trans mount today driving into work. I have the pcmforless tune and my trans shifts much harder then stock and today on my way in on one of my one two shifts i felt and heard a large clunk. I can feel it on my arm when it is sitting on the arm rest. Could this be my trans mount or is somthing else broken. When i drive the car really soft and have it shift very low in the rpm's i dont feel it but when it shifts with anything more then that it clunks real bad. It also does not clunk when i put it in and out of gear.

sounds like a trans mount, there is an easy way to check. Get a buddy over, start the car, put in gear, hold brake to floor and put on emergency brake, tap the gas up about 500 to 1000 rpm's and have your buddy look under to see if mount is seperating, if it is mount don't woory easy fix.

Ok thanks for the tip.... Its kinda freaked me out at first because it feels like someone is hitting the bottom of the car with a sledge hammer when the car shifts hard. Assuming it is the trans mount will i be safe driving home with it in this condition if I can manage to keep my foot out off the pump?

Its sound like exactly what happened to me 2 weeks ago. I had my mount replaced with a polyurathane one. Cheap and easy fix ($70 installed) like $30 if you want to do it yourself.

Word of warning the poly mount made my car vibrate like crazy. It seems to be smoothing out a bit now (or I'm getting used to it) but I'm still not sure if I shoulda just replaced the stock one.

Ok I ordered this part number from summit after alittle more research..ENS-3-1108R

Its is the list for the 92 Z28 but it is my understanding that there is only one GM trans mount so it will fit. Can anyone confirm this?

Yeah back when I put in a poly mount the car vibrated badly also. I did'nt give it any time to change it's attitude. Are you saying it will break in?

yeah, i had my trans mount break a few weeks back, and it freaked me out. i thought at first it was a back fire. so i replaced o2 try to fix it. i was about to blow up my car i thought to look under my car. and i figured out why it bangs, the cats mount is attached to the tranny. so when the mount breaks, and the tranny moves, the cat hits the floor boards. yeah i think i broke it practicing preloading.

what's the advantage of a poly mount over a rubber mount?

A poly mount is super tough compared to stock. Just remember that the poly mounts tend to vibrate. If you want to avoid any vibration then go with an LS1 tranny mount. They are much better than the LT1 units and don't vibrate.
