Disc's Upgrade

I gave my friend my old rear end, since he had drums. We are having some problems with the emergency brake cables not working properly, there is a clanking noise.

Also his rims arent fitting properly now...BUT I have the same rims (86 IROC-Z Style), and they fit fine. I HEARD that they were all slightly different...COuld be wrong though...

If anyone has any info on what i could be PLEASE let me know

If you swapped the fourth gen rear into a 3rd gen the rear is wider than the original and that would be why the wheels don't fit properly, also if the car had drums you will need a proportianing valve to make them work right and a different master cylinder as discs use more fluid , another thing is the IROC rims were directional and had distinct fronts and rears with different offsets , you probably allready knew that but some people dont so I thought i would throw it in , If you did use the fourth gen rear, the wheels from a fourth gen will make fit issues better ... the brake cables are also different and would need to come from a disc car to work properly .. it's not really a simple swap ...unless you have all the parts ..

no boss, you misunderstood me i think.

i used to have an 86 IROC with 4 wheel discs. My friend had drums and seeing that I now have a 94 with discs and posi i dont need the 86 rear. So i gave it to him....

Seems that its not a GM posi from what he was telling me, perhaps aftermarket? How exactly can you tell? He was saying something about the locking device itself but Im not too sure. The parking break is being a bit of a pain, and the rims he had arent fitting like the ones I had. Even though they were the both same 86 style. So I let him use my 91 rims for now and they fit fine. I think the hud is a bit different on his rims compared to mine...

You don't say what year/model he's putting your '86 Rear-end into put 2 things to consider ...first some 3rdGen Z29/IROC model years require spacers for the rear also some have rims specific to each corner of vehicle ...if '86 rims he was trying to use are stamped (as per BBCAM) ...be sure LR & RR are in appropriate positions.
