Hurst shifter

We are trying to finish up a 74 camaro. We just put in a hurst shifter with the gate to the side. I forgot what it is called. But anyways we do not have enough throw to put the transmission into first.

If we do get it into first we don't have park. If we have park completely we don't have first or second. We checked the throw from the old shifter. It had 1 1/2" throw to it. The new one gives us 2" of throw. We don't have a clue to what is going on. There has to be people who have had the same problem. But it is a hurst shifter that looks like the h. And it is a TCI 350.

No. It is a TCI 350. It is the same as a GM Turbohydromatic 350. It has P,R,N,D,2,1. The Shifter is has P,R,N,D,2,1. So they are perfectly matched for each other. I don't know what the problem is. We think we have a solution but we aren't going to bother with it right now.
