will this rear end fit?

here is a quote from a guy selling a rear end.. need to know if this will fit a 68 bird

I believe it will as if memory serves me, the rearend is the same length for the 66-67 Nova and Camaro.

does the 38" width seem like a normal size or do you think he has some serious negative offset wheels and/or is tubbed?

That rear end is too narrow. The first gen rear is 53 1/4" backing plate to backing plate.

if that rear is 38'' wide, it was probably set up for a pro-street application or in a race car. it would take some serious tubbing of the rear of your bird to make it work.

I agree, the rear in my Pro Street T/A is 40'' and I have 15x15 rims !!! and they tuck in the wheel wells ...
