Timing chain ?

Ok now I know that the LT1 and the gen1 are different engines. But my question is: Can I use a Gen 1 Timing chain set , provided that I use an electric water pump? It seems that there are alot more to choose from and are more reasonabley priced. Thanks.

I wouldn't, I would stick to the lt1, lt4 chains. They are made to work with the engine and the w/p.

I understand what you are saying, but I am going to replace my opti, timing set , seals, oil pan, and pump soon. And I want to go with an electric pump, thus eliminating the cam drive. Also all of the timing sets I have seen for the lt1 and lt4 are link belt chains. I would like to run a double roller set.

Yes, you can do that when running an electric pump. The Cloyes 9-3145 is a strong and popular set to use. You may have to clearance the inside of the timing cover a little bit.
