Pulling the motor

One of my friends has a 96 firebird that threw a rod, he already purchased the new motor to put in. I am wondering how hard it is to pull one of these and is there anything that I should keep in mind when changing this motor out. I have pulled motors out of vehicles before, but always on my old foxbody, never in a f-body.
Or does anyone know a website like shoebox's for the 6 cyl, also is it a 3.4 or 3.8 in 96 firebirds?

I would think thier K-members drop just like the LT1's do so that would be the easiest way in my opinion.

My 3.4 came out and back in through the top.

That 96 is a 3.8 though.

I'm RT1 on both of those sites.

The k member I think is not exactly same but bolts up exactly the same....almost all chevy motors can be taken out throw the top....however I have done both.....and from the bottome is much faster and better I believe....u do need to get the aligment redone after wards

Have to disagree about the alignment part. I havent had another one since the first time I actually put the adjustable A-arms and such on and its never been out of line from taking the K-member out.

I agree with Glenn on everything he said. You do not need an alignment after droping the motor and it's easier to do it out the bottom. Just be sure that you can get the chassis up far enough to get the engine out. And use jack stands!
