3.4 Crank Pulley Removal

My friend is trying to remove his crank pulley so he can reseal the timing cover. We got all of the bolts out of the pulley, but we can't get it off. Does anyone know the best way to get it off? We are using a puller and lots of PB, but it won't budge.

All of the bolts? There should just be the one in the middle that holds the pulley/hub to the crank. And you are doing about all you can do to get it off. Just try putting a lot of force on it and tap it (don't slam it) with a hammer and see if it will break loose. Other than using heat, that is about the only way. Be sure to get an installer to put it back on.

Yeah, the center bolt has to come out to get it off if it's a 1 piece pulley.

Even on the 3.4? I saw a diagram that showed the 3.8 that was that way. All the things I have seen, show the 3.4 as a 2 piecer. I'll try taking it out and pulling it tonight. If it all comes off together as a unit it would be better anyway. This shows it http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm

I got it all done tonight. Sorry for doubting ya Tony. The bolt dropped the pulley and then the balancer came off with a steering wheel puller. Then I found it easier to just put the balancer in place and lightly tap it on with a hammer. I got everything together and it runs great. Right now he has it in open headers, and it was so loud that I couldn't even hear myself think. Thanks Tony.
