Question oil light and wacky tachometer....

I have a question. I was pulling away from a stop sign and my tach kept going up even though the enigne was still revving normally, then when the tach reached 8000rpm the oil light went on and the oil light buzzer, the tach is stuck at like 7500-8000rpm. the engine was running fine, nothing dripping under the car and no smoke out the exhaust? also my battery gauge in dash stopped reading any voltage I drove the car home 5 minutes away and then topped up my oil (the dipstick was just about at add when this happened), and started the car the next morning and it started fine (actually easier). my initial thought was maybe my oil pump gave out but why would that effect my tach and battery voltage gauge. any ideas and I can start crossing things off the list.

My first thought would be the alternator regulator might be starting to go.
When that happend on mine it evetually cooked the coil, starter, and battery. I would check the voltage coming out of the alternator and see if it is fluctuating wildly.
Just a thought.
