I hate to post this, Oil

I just swapped to an aftermarket pan and Oil relocation... I can not get the oil pressure to come up...

It is the Moroso 7qt pan, 6ft of -10an line and the moroso Oil relocation filter housing

I have had it off 3 times to check things... Oil ring is fine in the pick up, yes it is the moroso pick up... Oil Pump is new, and has been pre lubed and packed to aid in oil pick up, Lines are filled and I pulled the front oil plug out and filled it with oil... I have a direct Oil Pressure sensor on the oil relocation, as well as in the car (being read from 2 spots, I have turned the car over many times trying to build the pressure and have YET to build it

Any input to help would be great

i picked up a big melling version of the stocker with the thicker casting and steel shaft and swapped the pink spring for the white one. I get great oil pressure. Maybe you should try this? I can't remember the part number and I'm sure it's different for LS1 anyhow.

the LSx is on the snout of the crank... even a crappy ls1 pump, should build SOME pressure.... it isnt building any, at all... there really is NO way to prime the LSx block where as on SBC1/2 you can turn the oil pump from the top

I have went as far to check the tube for a bad weld... Who knows... I am gonna pull the lines and force oil down threw them.... tomorrow hopefully

for the record this is a LS4 pump

yeah, the machinist removed the front galley plug, which in a essence is a freeze plug and never re installed it... He had also removed the rear galley plug/plunger assembly but reinstalled it...

Are you talking about the bar bell plug? I was just going to say that, we had all kinds of trouble after putting the motor back in my friends Trans Am.The machine shop forgot to put the plug in the back of the motor.
We were puzled trying to figure it out to

No the bar bell was in there, I usually double check that

If you look at the front of the motor between the oil pump and the screw in bolt (beside the alternator) there is a hole that has a freeze plug looking plug... it is a small 5/8 (i think) plug... the machinist had removed it for some odd reason... and never re-installed it.... which cost me 300$ in Bearings plus the few hours of install and un-install and a month of down time...

I attempted to tell him what happened and he would take no responsibility and blamed it on my work... I have built SEVERAL LSx motors as well as SBC and a few LTx... I have NEVER had a motor not build oil pressure (with the exception of one and I was 12). He played the I did this I did that wrong game, sucks for him because I spend several thousand dollars on machine work a year... almost enough to justify buying the basic machine shop tools and learning how too

yea i had a problem with my guy when i built mine. i had a band new oil pump. for my motor i just wanted them to look at it to make sure it was ok they took it apart and put it back. i put on my motor pre oiled the motor with a high speed drill oil was coming out of the rockers. so i put the motor in and started her up and for some reason it stopped pumping oil never showed on the gauge. so i took the whole motor back to them and had them look at it. they said that i did everything rite and that they did everything rite. they said the pump stopped pumping. cost me another $400.00 for them to tear down and for parts. needls to say i wont be going back there either.

Hate that sha...hit. Makes you want to cry or shoot the guy. I'd rather shoot the guy. I had a few issues (big oil leaks) and my mechanic didn't bother to fix them at all. Never showed any interest to fix them.

You know I never asked him to pay for it... it only ran 30-45 sec without oil... but scared the bearings... and all i really wanted was a "I'm Sorry"

I mean it sucks, big time... and I am glad its my personal car... lord only knows how big of a pain it is to tell someone what happened and explain it... knowing they have no clue what you're saying... except Spend more money

but I will always bring this up anytime I have friends needing machine work

The shop that did Sean's motor felt really bad about it and gave him like 300 back
Sean never asked for any of it back as it was a simple mistake but he insited that Sean take some back as it took us 2 weeks to figure out what was wrong with it.

This was in a turboed 98 Trans AM making 800-850ish HP. Oh and one more thing don't buy a 98 to put a crazy motor in LOL

yeah... the diagnostic time is priceless when your looking and looking and trying to figure out whats different... good thing i have multiple blocks to look at to see whats missing or wrong... Makes it even worse when its in the car, but i can yank the motor/trans out of my car in about an hour...
