Question 2001 LS1 sparkplugs

Can anyone please tell me if there are any tricks or certain tools to save time on changing plugs. Maybe someone out there has done them before. I would appreciate the help guys so i don't work myself silly getting them out... The heat shields on the plugs makes it even harder.

I didn't personally do it, but I was there as a couple other members helped change mine and so what I can stay is just be patient and the 8th plug sucks... Good luck man

Honestly they are not as bad as everyone thinks.
The driver side is simple, just take your time and be careful not to break any.

On the Pass. side, I like to take the air cond. canister and unbolt the strap and flip it up and zip tie it to the TB bracket. if you still have the EGR on your car you will want to remove the EGR pipe going to the manifold, be careful not to break that little bolt, you may want to spary some PB blaster on it first. You can get 2,4,6 out from the top.
Now for 8 you will need to go under the car and you can reach your arm up through and get to it preatty easy with the stock manifolds.

On Greg74 car he has the LPP headers and they make the #8 plug no fun at all to get to, but with stock manifolds you will be fine.
It usually takes me a little over an hour to change all 8 with the manifolds

Yeah, I swapped all mine out a few months ago and its not too bad. Drivers side are a cake walk. Passenger side works great with matt's trick of flipping up the a/c accumulator. That makes 2, 4, and 6 a breeze. 8 is tricky, but from underneath it was not bad. I took the starter out on mine and that helps out a lot. I would definitely do an LS1 plug swap over an LT1.

BTW: That #8 plug is a FUN one with those LPP's. I think it took us like 10 minutes just to get #8 started on greg's car.

A 10 inch extension and a universal joint helps a lot with these cars..

If you have long tube headers there not that bad, I got all the ones on the drivers side done real quick then just put the front up on ramps and done the other side from under the car (I bought a plug socket and modded it at work on a lathe , thats helps on #8)
