Question about motor swap.

I'm working on an 86 z, and i've never done an engine swap before, so I'm having a buddy help me. I've unhooked everything but the tranny. Should I unbolt the motor from the torque converter, and just pull that, or should I unbolt the tranny from the driveshaft and tranny mount, and pull the whole thing out? Most people I ask say that just the motor is easier, but my buddy who is helping me says it would be easier to pull it all out and then slide it back in, instead of hooking the motor back up to the tranny. I can definitely see how much easier unhooking the tranny from the driveshaft is, (I could hardly find the bellhousing and torque converter bolts) but I'm just worried about the difficulty of getting it all out of the engine bay, and then maneuvering it back in. Any advice from other experienced members?

I've always heard it's easier to take them out seperately. You should be able to get to the top bellhousing bolts from the engine compartment. You may have to remove the distributor and move some wiring out of the way if it's a TPI car.

I think I'm just gonna go with what my friend said to do. He's the one helping me anyways, so I might as well do it his way. lol. Thanks for your input, you two. I appreciate it.
