This one has me stumped
Ok, i have a 1987 Chevy camaro z28 305.... rebuilt ground up except motor..... has ran fine for 3 months but had a water leak so i replaced my water pump problem solved. But now when i start the car it idles normal but when i hit the gas pedal it dies immediately.... but if i put it in drive and hold the brake and slowly put more pressure on the gas pedal and let go of brake it will go fine unless i push my foot down to fast..... once i drive about a mile with it dying on me every once and a while it starts working normal and strong..... i put a can of seafoam and premium in it bc i figured it was gas in the water but now i'm down to quarter tank and still same problem..... aslo just curious what yall's 3rd gen camaro's normal operating temperature is..... Thanks alot hopefully this has happened before... Bout ready to sell this thing after putting about 15 grand into it and still breaks down on me!!
just cant let go though |

if you think its a vacumm leak get some starter fluid and spray alittle aroud the vacumm hoses and if the motor revs up then you got a leak. just spray alittle on each line one at a time

okay so i unplugged my maf(mass air flow sensor) and the car idles and runs fine just a little on the rich side lol... and to answer the other question you get water in your gas tank by gettin bad gas.... anyway it's definately not a vacuum leak checked it out... so i went and got a new maf and it does the same thing but they warrantied it so i didn't lose the 200 dollars at least lol... what should i check next? cuz i don't really like gettin 10 miles a gallon with the sensor unplugged!

That means that there is something wrong. If the problem corrects its self, after a few starts, the light will go off. But, since it's still on, there is still a problem. You need to get the codes checked.

Yes i know i got the codes checked but they don't make any sense.... maf too low, maf too high. mat too low, and tps too high.... but still i got a new maf like i said and it reads same codes plugged in running crappy or unplugged running rich...

Sounds like there is a problem with the plug or wires. The only way to check this is to strip the tape off of them and check each wire. I had to do this on my car and I would check the ohms from the plug on the sensor to the plug on the computer.
