fuel pump?

I got a 94 3.4. About 2 weeks ago i started noticing some starting problems. It cranks over a few times and doesnt start. i crank it again and it idles rough. If i drive it somewhere and turn it off...it starts up. About a year ago i put new intake manifold gaskets, injector o-rings, plugs and wires and machined the heads, and replaced the head gaskets. It almost seems like fuel pressure is bleeding off after it sits for a while. Today after work i turned the key to the on position and repeated that 3 times to build fuel pressure. it started right up after that. i cleaned the IAC valve, but i have not changed the fuel filter yet. I have changed it twice in the past because i am all about car maintenance/ i have nothing else to do. I have about 151,000 on this car, and it is worth nothing basically but it holds some sentimental value. anybody else have this problem before?

Yup. What you need to do is rent/buy a fuel pressure gauge and test your pressure. I don't know what specific readings you should get for your car, but after hooking the gauge up to your schraeder valve you should check to see how much PSI is built up with KEY/ON, and then running. Compare that with the values that you should have and that'll tell you if it's probably the pump or not...

same here....as stated but do a search to find the proper reading this way if you do get a reading you know if its to low or spot on....if you turn the key several times and then it starts your right might be fuel issue....make sure you hear the pump prime when you turn the key to the on position(or atleast it should prime if its working) and good luck.....and would realy look into the fuel filter...maybe replace it...run some b12 in the tank(fuel system cleaner)
