Whats wrong?

Ever since I washed out my engine bay, my car has been acting up. When I start it up sometimes it doesn't bite. The service engine soon light comes on. When it does start up it idles at damn near 1,500rpm then slowly goes back to 700rpm. Iam thinking it's something with the fuel?

any help would be great, thanks...

You got water into something most likley the dristrubitor. Pull the cap and rotor and make sure its dry and clean. If it has some corrison then replace. Also make sure the wores are good. Might have one breaking down and water got into it.

check the intake for a vaccum hose. if the idel is going up and down thats you best bet. could be ignition componets wet but if that were the case it pbobly would not start at all and if it did would stall right out.

I agree. I'd tend towards electric here as well. Like Mase said with the distributor. When you get through cleaning it out, spray some WD-40 in there to keep it free of water. It will also help eliminate carbon tracking through the cap. You can check your wires at night while it's running. They'll light up like a Christmas tree if you are leaking electrons. Oh, and pay no attention to [sic] "CameroJack" because he doesn't know much about "Camaro"s Doesn't know much about cars in general.

I concur with the cap and rotor as well.
