Hey guys just bought a mini starter and want to replace my old stock starter, i have longtube headers on the car, i heard that the only way to drop the starter is to drop the header on that side? is this true??

Nope, I have Hooker SC's on mine and I dont' have to drop the header. I have to drop the starter to change plugs though lol. It should be pretty easy to get that starter out of there.

ok cool, cause my freind has an 02 ws6 with american racing headers and he said he has to drop his, this would save me a ton of work, so its just dissconnect two wires and put the new one in and connect everything? also dissconnect the positive on the battery?

Oh hell, I forgot that you have an LS1, and not an LT1. I don't see why there would be much difference, but there may be. If and when you get up under there, snap some pics and let us all know how it went with your headers.

i have an 2002 z28 and had to replace the starter. (turned out to be a blown motor lol) but i did not have to take header out. it is a tight fit to get your hand up there and the damn o2 sensors will make you want to take the header or manifold out but i replaced the starter no problem. just make sure u line up the gears on the starter with a nice patch of teeth (no flat spot) on the flywheel or you will not be able to start the car. i think the starter can only go in one way so it should hook up fine

got the starter in but i had to shave down a part of the block cause the mini starter was hitting against it, so i couldnt line up the bolts, but eventually got her in and she starts like a charm now
