i bought this 2001 z28 tonight. runs great. drove it all day. tonight it started making a screeching noise, like a belt noise but not, maybe waterpump bearing or something. has anyone else had any weird high pitched screech from up front. please help me out with some ideas.

Is there a certain pulley that most camaro owners have a problem with. Is there a problem area for this kind of symptom.

Easy way to tell if it's a belt or belt driven part is to take the belt off and start the car, noise gone it's something related, noise still there it's something else which is probably not good.
Assuming noise gone start spinning parts like the alternator or water pump by hand to see if they feel smooth or not and if they make any noise or not.
A water pump is a good possibility they can make a lot of noise when going bad,has your temperature gauge been reading high at all?

a/c idler usually has issues, best bet spray wd40 on each one while running and see if it stops when you spray one, if it stops then you found the winner.

Definitely sounds like the primary belt tensioner.
