Oil Leak...help

ok i have an oil leak from the front of the engine. I thought it was the timing cover seal but its not. Its coming from behind the opti somewhere...possibly even higher up. I havent gotten enough stuff taken apart yet to tell. Have any of you ever had anything similar to this? THe only things i can think of that may be leaking are the shaft that runs the opti or the water pump shaft. I did change the water pump about a week ago and the oil leak started right after that.

Thanks guys, Joe

Nevermind....its the shaft that runs the Water pump....the seal around it is leaking.

Check to see if it is leaking from the manifold. If I recall it leaks from the mainfold gasket and down on the top of water pump shaft. I remember reading about somebody who diagnosed the prob like you did only to find out it was coming from above it.

Make sure you're very careful replacing the waterpump shaft seal b/c it's a teflon seal.
